Sandeep Narayan, age 24, is a disciple of the well acclaimed musician, Sri Sanjay Subrahmanyan. He started his initial training in vocal music at the age of four, under the guidance of his mother, Smt. Shubha Narayan.  Though he was born and raised in America, his passion and interest in music inspired him to take off from school at the age of 11 to come to India and begin advanced training under the revered musician and musicologist, the late Calcutta Sri K.S. Krishnamurthy in 1996. He has continued to sharpen his skills under Sanjay Subrahmanyan since 1999, and permanently shifted his residence to Chennai in 2006 to pursue his musical interest fulltime.

After giving his debut performance of a full concert at the age of 11 in 1996, Sandeep has performed regularly in Chennai as well as across South India in cities such as Coimbatore, Thanjavur, Bangalore, Mysore, Kancheepuram, and the Thiruvaiyaru Thyagaraja Aradhana. He has also had the privilege of performing for the Tamizh Isai Sangam in Sri Lanka, and has given concerts allover the United States as well. He has been a regular in the Chennai music season, performing in all sabhas including The Music Academy, Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Narada Gana Sabha, The Indian Fine Arts Society, Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha, Brahma Gana Sabha, Bharat Kalachar, Kalarasana, Karthik Fine Arts, Nada Inbam, Sri Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha, and The Mylapore Fine Arts Club among others.  In 2008, Sandeep performed a very unique jugalbandhi for the Friday Review NovemberFest music festival, organized by The Hindu.

Sandeep is a 'B-High' graded artist of All India Radio Chennai, and was the recipient of The Indian Fine Arts Society's 'Best Sub-Senior Vocalist Award' for the 2008 December music festival.  He has given both solo and jugalbandhi performances all over the United States and has had the opportunity of giving a concert in the renowned Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana.  Sandeep has earned high praise from musicians as well as music lovers, and regularly performs with well accomplished artists such as S. Varadarajan, M.R. Gopinath, M.A. Krishnaswamy, Trichur Narendran, Neyveli Narayanan, Thiruvarur Vaidhyanathan, and Melakkaveri Balaji among others.
